An education is where one gains a general knowledge and understanding in order for them to develop their skills to be able to carry out simple everyday tasks independently such as tying up a shoe lace for example. We need to be able to adapt to the environment we live in and in order for this to happen we need to be educated to make sense of the world, problem solve, gain even better understanding to provide our own roles in society such as getting a job to earn money to live. To enable one to require these skills a stimulated educational environment is essential. We also need to be educated so that we can teach others the skills to live life that we have been taught by others. Education is seen to happen in many different contexts as people believe in different ways to teach others and it is now necessary in the following posts to describe some of the various types of education today.

Facebook is an online network used for many around the world to connect and socialise with friends and family. In 2004 Mark Zuckerberg who was an attendant at a university in America, Mark along with the help of his room mates came up with the idea of using Facebook within the university, this then led on to other universities and colleges and then eventually it was allowed to be used by anyone over the age of 13. The user would be able to create their own profile, add friends and update their own statuses whilst receiving replies and likes of friends. I enjoy using Facebook because I am able to talk to friends via a group message for assignment information and also to help friends if needed. I find Facebook very easy to understand and I enjoy sharing my feelings with friends and family. Many more people use Facebook than any other online social networking site and I know that its got nearly 6 billion users in the space of 6 years. Facebook has many advantages but then this site may also be used inappropriately and could lead to trouble. Many young children try to use Facebook and will put their age to 13, these children are vulnerable and there are many others who make fake profile pictures just to get in touch with this kind and these children may be too young to understand and think the people they are talking to are just friends they have met online. Also as Facebook gets easier to use their are more ways and thoughts of making groups such as to bully and harass a certain user that is disliked by a group and many of these instances have led to suicide of the victim. It has been seen that some students results in school and exams have been affected by over use of Facebook as they are not concentrating as well as they should be and instead using the site. I think the intention of Facebook in the first place was for a good purpose and I use it as the way it was made, But to make this more of a safe site I think that maybe people should only be allowed a certain amount of time spent on the site and proof of age should be asked for so that less young children can get themselves into bad situations via the site. If this site is used for the right reason in the correct way then it could be seen as a good site to use.

We discovered during our last lecture a webpage called wikispace. We as groups went on to this site and began to use it, understanding how everything is set out and done. After watching a video demonstrating how to use wikispace, we could see that any information you put on the site can either be changed or more information can be added to it by another member of the group. We were given the task to find out what education may be like in the future as of technology being involved and it gave us the chance to do our own research and place it onto the website, where we could see what others have found out and change it if necessary. After placing all our information together as a group we discussed what we found out. I added to the group that I think the technology that will be produced in the future should not be used as an easy way out for teachers but used in educational context to help with teaching children appropriately to develop all their skills.

Classrooms will become much more modern with various technology devices for children to choose from. Learning will be focused around using the internet with exams being taken online much more frequently and even from phone devices.

Phones could soon develop a nose more sensitive than our own, able to assess cleanliness of a room or a person’s breath! OUR PHONES ARE GOING TO BE ABLE TO RECOGNISE SMELLY BREATHE :O I WONDER WHETHER THEY WILL HAVE MINTS? Seeing
New recognition systems will enable specific visual features to be identified and isolated. This could mean pinpointing a particular face in a crowd or even saving lives by spotting medical anomalies.
From looking through the various videos on Ted Talks I chose to watch a video on a young boy called Mario who had an illness that caused him to lose the ability to move the left side of his body. I decided to look this video because my main focus in life is to become more involved with children with additional needs in the future. This video looks at a couple who believed that their son was a healthy young boy when he was born. Within days of his birth the young boy has a stroke that leaves the right side of his brain damaged, enabling him from using the left side of his body. The moral of the clip explains that basically this couples lives had to change for their son, so that Mario can get the best support around him. I can relate to this video clip as of circumstances in my family. Because in the future I wish to become a Special educational needs co-ordinator, this video makes it clear that for every individual to achieve to the best of their ability, then life needs to be altered in order for them to be able to carry out their daily routines, activities and to enjoy life just like the rest of us. I found that this video is very inspirational and shows that miracles can happen. It shows that Everyone's must be valued and respected for their individuality and for them not be looked at as incapable, as there are strengths and weaknesses in all of us, not just people with additional needs. If people are supported with their additional need then there is always a chance they can achieve the best of their ability. As seen in this clip Mario's parents were told that he would not be able to move the left side of his body and now he is able to keep balance and is walking. This is what makes the clip much more incredible.
